The Aztec Empire is a fascinating period of history that excites our brains into thinking of ancient tribes, spears, and human sacrifice. It’s very easy to mistake this great empire as primitive and too far removed from our modern way of living, especially when archeologists are still digging up remains and artifacts from dig sites to display in museums.
But did you know that Oxford University in England is older than the Aztec Empire by over 200 years? Teaching has been continual at Oxford University since 1096, and the Aztec Empire was founded in 1325 when the great city of Tenochtitlán was built by the Mexica!
How’s that for skewed timelines?
